 What is the Government Site Builder (GSB)?
------------------------------------------

Content management systems (CMS) simplify the administration and maintenance of websites. The [**Government Site Builder (GSB)**](https://www.itzbund.de/DE/itloesungen/standardloesungen/gsb/gsb.html) is an initiative of the BMI and has existed since 2003, since version 10 even as open source. In the new version 11, it is to be further developed in 2024 on an open source basis with <a rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">**TYPO3**</a> and offer the public administration a standardized platform to offer its services and create a modern web presence.

The [**GSB 11**](https://produkt.gsb.bund.de/Produkt_neu/GSB11/gsb11_node.html) is based on TYPO3, an established open source CMS that is already used by many institutions and companies. The advantages of open source software are obvious. In addition to high **cost efficiency and strong performance**, the system impresses above all with its **flexibility, workflows and high level of security**. The large community and professional structures guarantee **long-term stability and further development**.
